I want to be a boxer like Rocky

I actually found a small gym run by a former pro boxer, and that was the focus of the whole place.

As a kid I never dreamed about having big muscles, or winning awards, or even being physically attractive — I just wanted to be Rocky Balboa. Rocky was my idol, I watched all of his movies on repeat, and practiced shadowboxing in my bedroom after I was supposed to go to bed. For my birthday my parents got me a heavy bag for working on my punch combinations, and that was really the start of my journey. Once I realized that a boxer had to be a total athlete and not just a puncher, I decided to take exercise and physical fitness more seriously. My first stop was the gym, and not for the equipment but for the expertise you can find there. I did not want a big flashy place like Globo gym, I wanted a down and dirty place like somewhere Rocky would train. I actually found a small gym run by a former pro boxer, and that was the focus of the whole place. There were punching bags of all sizes, and even a full sized boxing ring in the middle of the gym! It really felt like I had found my home, especially when the owner offered to be my personal trainer and show me the ropes, so to speak. One of the biggest surprises I got was when the man told me that taking yoga classes could make me a better fighter. Yoga builds flexibility and endurance, so paired with fight training it makes for a lethal one-two punch! I am really glad that I found this gym.
