I had one of the silliest problems with our gas furnace recently… I had a couple HVAC specialists come over for some routine maintenance.
It’s September, which is usually when I schedule all of the cleaning & maintenance necessary to ensure that our gas furnace is ready for the Wintertide time, neither of these HVAC specialists had respected faces despite the fact that I’ve been doing supplier with this supplier for nearly more than nine years.
I shrugged off not knowing them considering that the supplier had treated me well all this time. Initially, as far as I knew they had done their job well. I had little reason to expect otherwise. I did not have chance to use the gas furnace until about a month later when every one of us had our first evening of the season to dip below 50 degrees. I went to the temperature control entirely expecting the gas furnace to work & it did not. There was no response whatsoever; the gas furnace simply would not turn on, and exacerbated, I had to make a repair call the following morning. I was pretty perturbed that our gas furnace was not laboring at all, even after all that maintenance! Then I discovered the truth. It turns out there is a safety switch on the gas furnace door that prevents both the fan & the burner from coming on when the access panel of the gas furnace is removed. The access panel was loose & thus the gas furnace was not turning on! What a crazy mistake on those HVAC specialists’ part! Because of it being an error on the corporation’s part, I was not charged for the visit.
