I’m actually ecstatic that Summer is here now, since it’s been a truly long, cold Winter time around these parts.
Springtime honestly wasn’t much better, either, to tell you the truth.
It was rainy and nippy all Springtime and I was starting to wonder if the weather was ever going to begin heating up. Evidently, that sort of weather didn’t pose much of a complication to the bee, hornet, and wasp population because they seem to be doing just great around here. When I was actually cleaning out the garage and attempting to get all of our warm season stuff down from the attic, I noticed a very alarming thing. I was moving all of our beach stuff down, such as the boogie boards and the beach tent, and rapidly a bunch of big hornets flew directly at me! I screamed and just about fell off the attic ladder despite the fact that I made it back into the dwelling without getting stung by a hornet. When I peeked into the garage a short while later, I saw that it wasn’t just a couple of random bees out there, there was a constant stream of frightening looking hornets flying all around the garage. I could tell that I must have disturbed their wasp nest when I was moving stuff in the attic. Well, I didn’t even attempt to go out there and spray them myself. I have dealt with wasps and hornets in the past and I definitely knew that it was not a task for anyone other than an actual professional. I decided to contact one of the local wasp extermination companies and made an appointment. Then I stayed a good distance away from the garage until they showed up the following day! They were able to safely remove all of the wasps and now I can get back to the attic for our warm season preparations.
