We had a hornet infestation in our garage rafters

I’m really glad that summer is finally here, since it’s been a really long, cold winter around here.

Spring wasn’t much better, either, to tell you the truth.

It was rainy and cold all spring and I was starting to wonder if the weather was ever going to start heating up. But apparently, that sort of weather didn’t pose much of a problem to the bee, hornet, and wasp population because they seem to be doing just fine around here. When I was cleaning out the garage and trying to get all of our summer stuff down from the attic, I noticed a disturbing thing. I was moving all of our beach stuff down, like the boogie boards and the beach tent, and suddenly three big hornets flew right at me! I screamed and nearly fell off the attic ladder but I made it back into the house without getting stung by a hornet. When I peeked into the garage later, I saw that it wasn’t just a few random bees out there. There was a nearly constant stream of scary looking hornets flying in and out of the garage. I realized that I must have disturbed their wasp nest when I was moving stuff in the attic. Well, I didn’t even try to go out there and spray them myself. I have dealt with wasps and hornets in the past and I knew that it was not a job for anyone other than a professional. I called up one of the local wasp extermination companies and made an appointment. Then I stayed far away from the garage until they showed up the next morning! They were able to safely remove all of the wasps and now I can get back to the attic for my summer preparations.
